JICA COMMISSIONS SHED AT HOLUTA BORDER POST.

On Thursday, 31st March 2022, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) commissioned a passenger waiting shed at the Holuta border post. The project is aimed at strengthening the border public health capacity at point of entry.

The District Coordinating Director, Mr. Wisdom Kporngor and Warlord of Holuta Traditional Area, Togbe Awudzatse IV, in their speeches thanked JICA for its immense contributions towards development in the district. They urged the beneficiaries to maintain and make good use of the facility.

Mr. Bernard K. Nketiah, the District Commander of Immigration expressed his gratitude to JICA for the project. He promised to ensure the facility serve its intended purpose and also took the opportunity to appeal to the Assembly to build toilet facility for passengers at the border.

The Deputy Country Director of JICA, Madam Maki Ozawa indicated that the Agency has supported Ghana in several areas including Education, Infrastructure, Health and Agriculture, to promote the socio economic development of the country. She further disclosed that the project is to help support the border post to enable them monitor the movement of passengers as well as help passengers to find a place of rest.

Equipments and consumables such as Veronica budget, PPEs, rain coats, Wellington Boots, solar touch light, liquid soaps, sanitizers, nose mask, first aid kits, reflectors, furniture, examination beds among others were given to Ghana Immigration Service and Port Health to help boost security and health at the Holuta border.
